Catch a Sneak Preview of the Farmers Market at the Flint Hills Sustainability Fair
Ten Emporia Farmers Market vendors will set up tables at the Flint Hills Sustainability Fair starting at 9am on Saturday, April 30. The fair will take place at the Flint Hills Technical College at 3301 W. 18th Ave., Emporia, from 9am to 4pm. Vendors will be selling spring greens, early veggies, and baked goods for most of the morning and several will remain throughout the day. Additional goods will include homemade soaps and lotions as well as bags and aprons from recycled materials. Come for a preview of the Emporia Farmers Market, which begins in the parking lot at 7th and Merchant on Saturday, May 7th, 8am.
The Flint Hills Sustainability Fair, hosted by the Sustainable Living Center and partners, is a community event designed to educate people about what it means to live sustainably. There will be information about local food systems, recycling, energy efficiency, alternative energy, sustainable arts and recreation activities. The event will include tours of the high efficiency Jones Education Center, high tunnel, speakers and presentations, hands on games and activities for children as well as adults, music and booths. The fair is FREE to the public.
