Don't forget to stop by the Flint Hills Sustainability Fair on Saturday. The event will take place at the Flint Hills Technical College at 3301 W. 18th Ave., Emporia, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair is a FREE community event designed to educate people about what it means to live sustainably. Enjoy presentations on wind energy, active solar systems and passive solar design, water conservation, energy efficient building, high tunnels/low tunnels, sustainable communities, recycling, garden design & composting, xeriscaping, local food initiatives, energy efficiency tips & natural lighting, green products, green teams and so much more.
The event will include tours of the high efficiency Jones Education Center, various speakers and presentations, hands on games and activities for children as well as adults, music and booths. As well, ten Farmers Market vendors will be there, starting at 9am, to give you a preview of what the market has to offer in 2011! Come take advantage of this opportunity -- one week early -- to start shopping the farmers market.
