Shop for Groceries on Saturdays at the Farmers Market
The farmers market started with a bang on May 7th with a record number of 20 vendors for the first market of the season and near-record sales. There was a wide variety of product; everything from several varieties of lettuce, radishes, broccoli, asparagus and rhubarb to homemade soaps and lotions, cute aprons and bags from recycled materials, and bird and bat houses. Shoppers can count on vendors being in the parking lot in the 700 block of Merchant Street every Saturday from now until the end of October.
Families who received market bucks from the Flint Hills Community Health Center at our Winter Indoor Markets, please remember to return to the market in the parking lot to spend any remaining bucks you may have.
Our 2-for-1 market token program for state of Kansas Vision cardholders continues through the season until we have given away all available matching funds. Take advantage of this time to double your grocery shopping dollars. This electronic benefits enhancement is brought to you via a generous gift from the Emil Babinger Charitable Trust.
The farmers market is currently looking for non-profit groups to hold hot food fundraisers at the market. Volunteers to run the market kiosk are always welcome, as are new vendors. Please contact market manager, Tracy Simmons, at emporiaFM@gmail.com or 620-343-6555
