YUM! YUM!  Come and Join in the WATERMELON FUN!  It's FREE & Juicy!

ESB Financial is hosting the 9th Annual Kid's Watermelon Contest at the Emporia Farmers Market on Saturday, July 14 beginning at 8:00 am.

ESB is adding a new, fun feature this year.....a Watermelon Carving Contest...available for all ages...the judges will be Melissa Winsor, Director of the Emporia Arts Center, Kim Pember, General Manager of Glendo GRS and Kristin Oberle, art instructor at Emporia Middle School

Contestants will bring their carved watermelons and check them in at 8:00 am to be judged.  There will be a prize of a $100 gift certificate to the Emporia Arts Center for the winner.  ESB will also have shoppers vote for their favorite and the "People's Choice" Award will receive a $50 Emporia Chamber of Council gift certificate.

For the Kid's Watermelon Contest, registration will begin at 8:00 and the contests starts at 8:30 am.  The Emporia Arts Center will have "watermelon crafts" for the kids while they are waiting for their contests to begin.  KVOE's Ron Thomas and the KVOE Rolling Radio Show will broadcast and call the contests.   Judges for the kid's contests will be Casey Woods, Executive Director of Emporia Main Street, Jeanine McKenna, President/CEO of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Jim Wayman, President/CEO of ESB Financial.   This year, kids 5 and under will roll the watermelon, 6-9 will eat the watermelon and kids 10-13 will spit watermelon seeds.   All kids entering the contests will receive a "Kasasa" Super Hero cape and the winners of each contest will receive ESB Financial's famous "Texas Scratch Pad"...25 one dollar bills collated in a pad.

Fun for all ages! Including Watermelon Contests for different age groups: 5 and under watermelon rolling, 6-9 watermelon eating, and 10-13 watermelon seed spitting.

New this year!
Everyone is invited to exercise their creative talents and enter a carved watermelon in our contest! Entries due to the kiosk by 8:00 AM. First place receives a $100 gift certificate to the Emporia Arts Council. The "People's Choice" award will receive a $50 Emporia Chamber gift certificate.
