Burritos for Breakfast at the Emporia Farmers Market on Saturday


Special guests of EFM will be serving the market's famous burritos made with all local ingredients for breakfast on Saturday, August 4, starting at 8:00 AM. Please join author Cheryl Unruh of FlyoverPeople.net; award-winning author and journalist, Max McCoy; and musician, author and photographer, S.C. Dixon.

Cheryl Unruh is the author of Flyover People and writes a weekly column for the Emporia Gazette by the same name. Her work can frequently be heard on KPR. She maintains the website, Flyover People.net






Max McCoy is an award-winning author and journalist. He’s the author of four original Indiana Jones adventures for Lucasfilm, the critically acclaimed thriller The Moon Pool, and the Hellfire western noir trilogy. Damnation Road, the last book in the trilogy, won the 2011 Spur Award from the Western Writers of America for Best Novel. Hellfire Canyon also won the Spur and was named a Kansas Notable Book in 2008. Max wrote the novelization for Steven Spielberg’s epic miniseries, Into the West. He has also won first-place awards for his investigative reporting on subjects ranging from serial killers to white supremacists.  His books have been published by Random House, Simon and Schuster, and Kensington. The first book in his new series, Wylde’s West: Of Grave Concern, a paranormal mystery set in frontier Dodge City, is scheduled for 2013. S. C. Dixon’s photographic and mixed-media art hangs in homes, galleries, & shops in nearly every state in America as well as in México, Canada, France, and the U.K. A musician and songwriter as well, Dixon’s first paying job as a commercial/portrait photographer came by creating album covers and poster art for regional jazz musicians and rock bands in the early 1970’s. He has also produced many videos & sound recordings by numerous artists. Dixon currently performs with "The Usual Suspects" in nightclub and concert venues. He is co-owner of The Noose™, a nightspot featuring regular live music in Emporia, KS. He is the author of two books, available locally and on-line, a Gothic-Horror Who-Done-It called An Occurrence at Highgate Cemetery, and a Western/Adventure novel, Diamond Spring. He is also extremely involved in his own process of “mixed-media” fine-art prints, including extensive work based on his original photographs from across America and Europe. He is also known for photographs of the wildlife, flora, and landscape of the Flint Hills region of Kansas.

S. C. Dixon currently administers Emporia’s oldest continuously operating commercial portrait studio at 724 Commercial Street in downtown Emporia.
