The public is invited to have pancakes for breakfast at the market with the new ESU International students on Saturday, August 11, starting at 8:00 AM. As well, it will be a musical morning at the market with entertainment by Farmer Bill Ihling and Jane McCoy.
Proceeds from the pancake fundraiser go to support the market hosts for the day, the Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) of Emporia State University.
HALO’s mission is to share the cultural heritage, language, and traditions of Hispanic cultures with the students and faculty of ESU and the community of Emporia. They work to motivate and counsel pre-college students toward furthering their education. HALO was the recipient of Outstanding Student Organization of the Year in 2012. This fundraiser will help with the costs for HALO members to attend Hispanic Student Leadership conferences in Kansas City and Chicago.
