Emporia Farmers Market Wrapping Up Third Season of Indoor Winter Markets

April completes the third season of Indoor Winter Markets for the Emporia Farmers Market. The last two markets will take place on Saturday, April 6 and Saturday, April 20 at the Emporia Humanitarian Center, 215 W. 6th Ave., 10AM-12:30PM. Each market will feature an increasing variety of local produce as spring crops allow, as well as a variety of baked goods and handmade crafts.

Musical entertainment on April 6 will include the debut market appearance by market vendor and board member, Ben Stallings.
After 10 unfruitful years trying to learn the piano, Ben picked up the autoharp and found a perfect fit. His original arrangements range from simple song accompaniments to complex instrumentals, from familiar folk standards to contemporary alternative music. Come find out why other musicians who play with Ben say, "I wish you would write that down!"

The market’s favorite singing farmer, Bill Ihling, will perform on April 20. This market will also be attended by Girl Scout Troop 30050. The girls will be there to promote recycling awareness as a part of their work for their recycling badge.

More information about the market, both for shoppers and potential new vendors, can be found on the market’s website,, or by calling market manager, Tracy Simmons at (620) 343-6555.
