Three Chances to Shop at the Emporia Farmers Market

Markets will be held at the parking lot at 7th and Merchant, as usual, at 5pm on Wednesday and 8am on Saturday this week. Produce expected at the market includes plenty of corn, melons and tomatoes, as well as potatoes, a wide variety of peppers and squash, green beans, onions, and more. Baked goods, including yeast and quick breads, cookies, pies, cakes and cinnamon rolls, are a regular feature at the Emporia Farmers Market. Vendors also sell craft items, art, homemade body scrubs and butters, lip balms, and reusable shopping bags.
New Vendor: Kate Nave sells jewelry and accessories incorporating re-purposed items.

On Sunday, August 3, the Emporia Farmers Market vendors will travel to the fairgrounds to participate in the all new Family Fun Day event. The market will take place at the north end of the fairgrounds and will open at 5:00pm. The community is invited to shop at the market, as well as visit the 4-H and open class exhibits in the Anderson building and walk through the livestock barns.
4-H will be providing supper from 5-7:30 pm at the Bowyer Community Building. The menu includes grilled beef kabobs, smoked corn on the cob and cotton candy. If you are so inclined, 4-H will be accepting donations to support Lyon county program as well as to help raise funds to match the $50,000 challenge gift given to Lyon County Extension to go towards support of functional improvements to the Anderson Building.

The Emporia Farmers Market continues to open twice weekly in the parking lot at 7th and Merchant through the end of October. More information can be found online at
